So, I like babies just fine, but I honestly thought watching infants would be more boring. I mean, I'm not attached to these random strangers, right? So why would I be so excited when they first start to roll over on their stomach? Or lift their head on their own? Infants have to learn everything. With the twins I watch, they are learning things at different paces. One can now roll all over the room, the other one can roll onto her stomach pretty well, but I've only seen her roll back once. They don't laugh yet. They are just learning to sit up. One of them is good at making different sounds and "talking".
The thing is, they are still cute. They smile. They stare. And when they get close to laughing you just can't help getting excited.
Things I've learned with the twins- it's never early to start reading to them. They like being talked to and read to. I didn't know what to say to them when I first started working with them a month ago, so, since I was reading Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne, I started reading it outloud to them in an excited 'little kid' voice. They loved it. I've also found some books at their home with one word per page with a picture. They love the Animal one, but that may also be because I have fun making animal noises for most of the animals.
